Goodworth
Biomechanic & Forensic Consulting
Based in Santa Barbara, California, we provide expert Consultation, Analysis, and Testimony for Biomechanics in vehicle, workplace, and recreational contexts. This includes analysis of injury causation, human motor control, balance and falls, safety restraint systems, and event data recorders. We serve clients in Southern California and beyond.
OUR MISSION
To leverage research, science, and engineering experience to provide honest feedback and clear opinions that promote justice in our society.
OUR PRACTICE
BIOMECHANICS
Based on scientific research, we provide expert opinions and insight into injury, human movement, and falls. Our team has extensive knowledge and experience in analyzing human movement, accidents, forces, and injuries to determine the causes and effects on the human body.
EXPERT WITNESS TESTIMONY
We provide expert witness testimony for legal purposes in biomechanics, safety restraint systems, and accident reconstruction.
We explain physics and biomechanics in a reliable and easy-to-understand manner, suitable
to any audience.
SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION
and EDR
OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENCES
Our firm specializes in safety restraint systems and provides expert consultation. We are active in research with airbags and seatbelts, perform vehicle inspections, and analyze accidents.
We have consultants and collaborators available to download event data recorders and provide various degrees of detailed analyses for accident reconstruction.
We are experts in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s data analysis tools for analyzing previous crashes and injuries, including CDS, CISS, and CIREN. We also analyze complaints, New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), and data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
MEET THE TEAM
I earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, along with MS and BS degrees in Engineering, and hold a Professional Engineering (PE) license. My academic research focuses on restraint systems, injury biomechanics, and the control of human movement, neurophysiology, balance, and falls. I have over 50 peer-reviewed journal publications and conference abstracts, 3 book chapters, and 9 external research grants totaling over 1.5 million. Grants have come from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and the National Science Foundation. I also completed a certificate in prosthetics, neurology-focused postdoctoral training, and training in accident reconstruction and EDR interpretation.
Bill Broadhead
I have over 40 years of safety research experience. Since 1999, I have been working at Automotive Safety Research. My areas of expertise include airbag restraint systems, crash sensor performance, module design, occupant packaging, inflation-induced injuries, and overall vehicle/restraint system crash performance. Prior to ASR, I worked for several companies, including a consultant to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) where I completed accident investigation, pre-impact maneuvering, and occupant injuries. I have a BS and MS in engineering and 11 research publications.
Ted Zinke
For 40 years, I have worked with restraint system design, performance analysis, accident reconstruction, and general traffic safety consultation. My areas of emphasis include airbag restraint systems, crash sensor performance, module design, occupant packaging, inflation-induced injuries, and overall restraint system crash performance. I have experience with analyzing the technical issues of litigation cases, as well as expert testimony. I also have worked with AVS Technologies and Breed Automotive Corporation.
